David R. Ferguson, Partner

David R. Ferguson received the B.S. degree from Seattle University in 1963 graduating cum laude with a major in mathematics. He then received an M.S. degree in mathematics in 1964 from the University of Wisconsin. In 1968 he was awarded the Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin in mathematics specializing in the theory and application of splines. After receiving his Ph.D. he spent a post doctoral year at the Mathematics Research Center at the University of Wisconsin followed by four years in a joint mathematics and computer science appointment at the University of Southern California. In 1973 he joined The Aerospace Corporation as a Member of the Technical Staff. He moved to the Boeing Company in 1978 where he served as a Senior Principal Engineer and later as a Technical Fellow, retiring at the end of 2003. While at Boeing he served as manager of the Boeing Geometry program where he was responsible for research in geometry forms and advanced data fitting. He has numerous technical publications including over 25 referred technical papers and 5 invited addresses. He has been a member of several National Academy of Sciences review boards and has been active in various roles in SIAM. He was named a SIAM technical fellow in 2012.
